2. Description of Service

SOE is a personal sustainability scoring platform that allows users to assess their environmental impact, track their progress, and connect with a community of sustainability-minded professionals. Our service includes assessment questionnaires, scoring algorithms, leaderboards, and professional networking features.

3. User Accounts

To use our platform, you must:

• Be at least 13 years of age
• Provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Be responsible for all activities under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or provide false information.

4. Sustainability Scores and Assessment

Our sustainability scoring system is designed to provide guidance and encourage positive environmental practices. By using our assessment features, you acknowledge:

• Scores are estimates based on self-reported data and general emission factors
• Scores do not represent official carbon footprint calculations
• We may update our scoring methodology to reflect new research and data
• Scores are for personal guidance and should not be used for regulatory compliance
• Verification levels (self-reported, self-verified, system-verified) indicate confidence levels

5. User Content and Public Profiles

You retain ownership of content you submit to the platform. By making your profile public, you:

• Grant us a license to display your profile information to other users
• Allow your sustainability scores to appear on public leaderboards
• Consent to being included in our directory of sustainability professionals

You may not post content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or violates any laws. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

6. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any illegal purposes
• Provide false or misleading information in assessments
• Attempt to manipulate scores, leaderboards, or verification systems
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Scrape, crawl, or automatically collect data from the platform
• Interfere with platform security or attempt unauthorized access
• Create multiple accounts to gain unfair advantages
• Submit products with false, exaggerated, or misleading sustainability claims (greenwashing)

7. Anti-Greenwashing Policy

We are committed to maintaining a trustworthy platform for genuine sustainable products. Products listed on SOE must accurately represent their environmental claims and impact. We do not tolerate greenwashing — the practice of making misleading, exaggerated, or false sustainability claims.

Our enforcement measures include:

• Community Reporting: Any authenticated user can report a product for greenwashing, misleading claims, spam, or other violations using the Report button on each product page
• Automatic Review: Products that receive multiple reports are automatically flagged for review and may be temporarily removed from public listings
• Immediate Removal: Products confirmed to contain false or misleading sustainability claims will be removed from the platform immediately
• Submitter Accountability: Repeated violations may result in suspension of product submission privileges

8. Verification and Trust

Our platform includes a verification system to help users assess the reliability of scores. Self-reported scores are based on user input without verification. Self-verified scores include user-provided documentation. System-verified scores are reviewed by our team. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any user's scores or verification status.

9. Intellectual Property

The SOE platform, including its design, logos, and content, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

10. Data Processing and Privacy

Your use of our platform is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, process, and protect your personal data in compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws. By using the platform, you consent to the data processing practices described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Limitation of Liability

SOE is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. 12. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the platform at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the platform immediately ceases.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. For users located in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence shall apply.
